Congregant Monday Musing

Greetings friends,

My head is still spinning from all our celebrations, special music and guest speakers these past few weeks. Which First United song is streaming in your head? Mine is “I Love to Tell the Story”.

Darcie Casey, Development Director, Monroe County United Ministries, shared MCUM news and success stories with us on June 11th. She also thanked the congregants for our generous support for so many years. It was encouraging to hear how our donations provide hunger relief, support early childhood education, and help adults create and achieve long term goals to break the cycle of generational poverty.

We are participating in MCUM’s Each One Feed One Food Drive this month. We have 1 more week to meet our goal of donating 240 pounds of food, cleaning and hygiene supplies. The Outreach Board and I urge you to consider donating this week to help MCUM reach its goal of 7000 pounds by June 25th. Donations can be dropped off at church on the shelves near our Fellowship Hall when the church is open throughout the week. Our last collection for this campaign will be on Sunday June 25th. Please extend this invitation to donate to your friends, neighbors and family members. We can all make a difference to the 200+ families served each month at MCUM’s self-sufficiency center.

Thanks in advance for all your donations and support!
