Fall! There are pumpkins, warm colors, great fashion, and an emphasis on everything cozy. Many people adore this season (this Minnesotan loves the bitter cold winter, but that’s just me), and there are a lot of expectations that often fail to meet the Hallmark moments we plan for when we are sweating bullets in the summer.

This year, it has remained quite warm through much of the season. Trees are still green, and while the temperature is now falling, we are experiencing a longer stretch of rainy, gloomy weather. Many now look toward the holiday season or even next Summer. We (I) often fail to live in the moment because it’s easier to daydream about what’s coming next.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, and I’m sure I’m not alone: “If I can get through these few weeks, then I’ll have way more time to do X.” I don’t know how many times I’ve said this only to arrive at my goal and replace it with another problem.

If you’re like me and you’re coming into this week with a full plate and a lot on your mind, I hope you know you aren’t alone. I wish you peace to try and live in the moment, to appreciate the many blessings God has given you, and to use those gifts to serve your neighbor. May God be with you as we seek to live each moment with intention.
