Hello, First United friends and family!

The First United Church Music Ministry had the good fortune to offer special music presented by several talented members of our congregation this Summer. I would like to take this time to thank them for their time and talents.

To Sam Troxal, for passionate piano playing and vocals

To Marge Steiner, for a powerful presentation of a traditional tune

To Jean-Paul Etienne, for a wonderful performance of a beautiful song loved by many

To Lisa Kwong, for her multi-artistic talents, in both poetic reading and the vocal arts

To Herbert Sizek, for his gifts on the cello, both solo and collaborative

To Rebecca Keith, for her unparalleled leadership skills that were showcased in the Holden Morning Prayer

To Emily Mathes, for virtuosic pianistic ability

To Megan Merrick, for a lovely bright and colorful presentation of a classic in the choral repertoire

To Sandra Meder, for her insightful playing of an instrument we do not hear nearly enough of

To Hansol Kim, for dutifully being present when possible even in the midst of starting school and completing difficult bureaucratic tasks

And last, but certainly not least, to Michael Shell, IU Stage Director and secret piano virtuoso, for filling in as our service accompanist for several weeks in addition to the occasional offertory presentation. We are so grateful for your willingness to step up on such short notice each week.

We are so fortunate to have a congregation full of talented individuals that are willing to share their gifts with us for the glory of God. I hope to continue this tradition in the future so that as many as possible are able to participate in artistic fulfillment at First United Church. In the meantime, we are so excited to welcome back the bell and vocal choirs to the service and look forward to a fabulous year of music-making.
