POTTER?S POINTS:

Here are some things I want to draw your attention to:

  • Hope you got a chance to make it to the First United Summer Series Event in June.? I was away, but it sounded like great fun?and a good event to invite people to.? Be sure to look for more information about the 2nd installment on July 15, which will also include the July Potluck!
  • The Church Council is considering a suggestion to change the time of the Sunday worship service.? Your input is important.? Please let me or Siri Loescher, Chair of the Board of Worship, know thoughts on the matter.
  • Not to rain on a beautiful summer parade (like we NEED any more rain!)?.remember that the church is operating on a deficit budget this year for the first time in memory.? Regular giving tends to slow down during the summer months.? If you can help by giving a bit more to support the work of the church, I encourage you to do so.

Rob Potter, President of the Congregation?

SUMMER SERIES OF SOCIAL AND SERVICE!
Do you love having fun?? Are you generally in church on Sundays?? Well, the Board of Christian Education would love to invite you to have fun in church during the next two Summer Series events!? Activities will vary between July and August, but there will be things to do for all ages.? In July, we will meet right after the potluck, 1-3.? We should also have special guests that day from Beth Shalom and the Islamic Center of Bloomington!? (Please keep our guests’ dietary concerns in mind for the potluck; it would be great to have a selection of foods with no pork or alcohol.)? In August, we will take advantage of the cooler afternoon temperatures and meet from 3-6, which will include dinner.? We hope to see you!? Please see any member of the Education Board with questions.?

USHER/GREETERS NEEDED for all of July. Ushering is an important ministry of hospitality to all who enter our church doors. You do not need to be a member of our congregation to serve as an usher.? We also welcome young people who may wish to volunteer for ushering. Please sign up on the sheet by the Fellowship Hall kitchen or contact Pam Potter at pmpotter317@gmail.com or Rob Potter at rfpotter@indiana.edu

JUST A FRIENDLY REMINDER. Purses, phones, and other valuables are easy targets for folks looking for something quick to take, even in church.? Please remember not to leave them unattended anywhere in the building.?

SUNDAY FLOWER ANNOUNCEMENT.?The sign-up book for 2018 flower donations is available in the lobby of Fellowship Hall.? It is empty for the month of July, so please sign up for your choice of dates, or just choose any Sunday to provide flowers for the sanctuary.? Your donations are appreciated and the flowers are yours to take home following worship.? Thanks.

NEEDED: COFFEE HOUR?host(s) may volunteer by signing up on the pad in the Fellowship Hall Foyer. Treats are provided by the Board of Worship and Kitchen Committee, but special goodies, especially in celebration of a noteworthy occasion, are always appreciated but never an obligation. If you have never been a Coffee Hour host(s), please sign up and indicate whether you wish to be paired with an experienced kitchen helper.? Contact Malissa Sparks?sparksmalissa@gmail.com?with any questions.

HELPING TO BEAUTIFY THE GROUNDS.? Have an hour to work outdoors? Contact Laura Kao to find a task and arrange a time. Weeding, dead-heading flowers, trimming bushes, painting a rail. We? could work together.?Laura_b_kao@hotmail.com

MONTHLY POTLUCKS.? Bring yourself and a dish for food and fellowship. Potlucks will be after service on the following dates: July 15, August 19, September 16, October 21, November 18, and December 16.

To help ensure a diverse food offering at the potluck, let us know what type of dish you are bringing. There is a sign-up sheet on the table outside the kitchen. Questions? Contact Laura Kao laura_b_kao@hotmail.com or Hopi Stosberg hopi@stosberg.com
