Community Longest Night Service
The holidays can be a time of great joy and expectation. And, for those who have experienced loss, the holidays can also be a particularly painful time. Our deep feelings of loss and grief can feel contrary to the merriment surrounding us. In this pandemic season, we are also acutely aware of the universal nature of loss.
On Sunday, December 19th, at 6:00pm, we will hold a hybrid Community Longest Night Service (see upcoming announcements for Zoom link). We will welcome members of the Bloomington community to join us in our sanctuary for a service of prayer, reflection, and remembrance planned and facilitated by folks from First United, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Bloomington, First Presbyterian Church, and Canterbury House (IU’s Episcopal campus ministry). There will be music, silence, and meditative activities as we hold space for those who are grieving this time of year.
