An event every week that begins at 7:00 pm on Thursday, repeating until March 25, 2021
Throughout the season of Lent, you are invited to gather together via Zoom each Thursday evening, 7:00pm-7:30pm, for a predominantly-sung service using Marty Haugen’s Holden Evening Prayer. (Rev. Petersen-Mutai sang “The Annunciation” and “The Magnificat” from this collection during one of our Advent Sunday services.) Haugen composed this lovely setting of vespers in 1985-1986 while he was the musician-in-residence at Holden Village, a Lutheran retreat center in Washington State. The service uses contemporary and inclusive language and offers space for quiet meditation, spoken prayer, and the presentation of scripture. These services will run live with pre-recorded music from our tremendous choir and live scripture readings and prayers, and people will be invited to stay for about 15 minutes afterwards for fellowship. Can’t attend in person? Each service will be posted on Vimeo. https://vimeo.com/firstunitedchurch
