Anti-Racism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Training

As part of the Justice Forum Series, First United’s Board of Christian Education is fortunate to be bringing in an accomplished facilitator to lead members of our congregation through a two-day training experience in March.  Chidimma Ozor is a social justice advocate, podcast host, author, researcher, and consultant. Mark your calendars now for Friday, March 27, 6-9 pm, and Saturday, March 28, 10 am – 4 pm.  The training will take place at First United, and we plan to offer a simple lunch on Saturday.  Some of the discussion topics include:

  • Faith and diversity
  • Who is marginalized and why?
  • Sitting in discomfort

The registration page is https://bit.ly/38HSbas. Call or text Rebecca Keith at (812) 325-0145, or any member of the Board of Christian Education, if you have questions or childcare/special needs.  Space is limited so make your plans now.

Time To Order Easter Flowers!

If you would like to help by purchasing one or more potted flowers please let Lisa in the office know. The cost is $9.00 per plant. We will need your order and check no later than Wednesday, March 26th. Be sure to make your check payable to First United Church and in the memo area put “For Easter Flowers”. Thank you!

The Pulpit Committee has been hard at work completing church profiles for the United Church of Christ (UCC) and American Baptist Church USA (ABCUSA).  The profiles will be used by potential applicants to learn about First United and to decide whether they want to apply for the senior minister position.

The profiles have been posted at the UCC and ABCUSA web sites, although one must register as a user to see the ABCUSA profile. To view the UCC profile, log in to http://oppsearch.ucc.org/id/3966.
